Project title: Welcome to AWF – a programme for the development of the internationalisation potential and international promotion of the Wroclaw University of Health and Sport Sciences

Funding: 393,953.32 PLN

The assumptions of the project were developed as a result of an analysis of the University’s needs in terms of increased internationalisation, as well as the needs indicated by the students from abroad. The project is in line with the University’s internationalisation strategy, which includes development of the internationalisation of education and research by increasing the number of students from abroad, engaging international staff in didactics and research, increasing accessibility of the University and its teaching offer to candidates from abroad. In addition, the implementation of the project will ensure continuous development of the quality of services provided to students from abroad and will strengthen the University’s information and promotional activities aimed at international candidates and students undertaking education both in Polish and in English.

Project Objectives:

The aim of the project is to implement a comprehensive programme to develop the internationalisation potential of the Wroclaw University of Health and Sport Sciences and to support international students, staff and candidates. The specific objectives of the project include:

  • increasing the quality of service for international students, staff and visitors from abroad,
  • development of support methods and tools for international students and staff,
  • conducting information, promotional and marketing activities addressed to foreign candidates for studies and their families.

Target groups:

  • candidates and students from abroad undertaking studies in Polish or English,
  • international academic staff e.g. taking up employment at AWF, making long- and short-term stays or participating in mobility and exchange programmes.

Planned project activities:

  • Task 1: Organisation, equipment and launch of the AWF Welcome Centre.
  • Task 2: Running the AWF Welcome Centre.
  • Task 3: Development and production of instructional animations for international students, staff and study candidates.
  • Task 4: Development of guides for students and staff, which will include a set of practical guidelines and information concerning studying or working at the University, in Wroclaw and in Poland.
  • Task 5: Preparing gadgets within the Welcome Pack for international students, staff and candidates.
  • Task 6: Launching an internet website supporting the students and staff from abroad.
  • Task 7: Adaptation of the AWF recruitment service to support candidates from abroad.
  • Task 8: Updating the website content presenting the University, its educational offer and research and teaching activities
  • Task 9: Running an on-line campaign aimed at international candidates, students, staff, parents, etc.
  • Task 10: Presentation and promotion of the University, its teaching offer and its activities in the field of sport and science.
  • Task 11: Development and production of informational and promotional videos presenting the university, its educational offer for candidates and students and the profile of its scientific and research activities.
  • Task 12: Organisation of on-line meetings for candidates for studies under the title e-Welcome to AWF (in the form of an open day).

Project results and products:

  • AWF Welcome Centre – place dedicated to students, staff and candidates from abroad, meeting place and information point on the AWF campus
  • Information and instructional films (animations) for international students, staff and candidates
  • Guides for students and staff, which are a set of practical tips and information on the functioning of the University as well as life in Wrocław and in Poland
  • e-Welcome to AWF Internet service
  • Recruitment service modules in English and Ukrainian
  • Online campaign aimed at candidates, students, staff from abroad and presentation of the University at educational portals for foreign candidates
  • Information and promotional films presenting AWF, its educational offer for candidates and students, as well as the profile of its scientific and research activities
  • On-line meetings for candidates for studies entitled e-Welcome to AWF in the formula of the open door day
