This week the Erasmus and AWF community came together for a Christmas events that brought the magic of the holiday season to international students far from home.
On Monday, students meet together to learn more about Christmas glass balls at special workshop at Tarczewski Arena. They learnt about the magical process of making and decorating glass balls as well as some fun facts. Not many people know this, but Poland is one of the biggest powers in the production of Christmas ornaments – it’s on the third place in the world! Students had chance to decorate their own glass balls using different methods. The glitter was everywhere! There was a lot of laughter and conversations as they shared stories of their own Christmas traditions.
As the students of AWF Wroclaw, they could not ignore the fact that they were at the Stadium of the WKS Śląsk football (Wrocław Football Club). The group took special tour with a guide around the stadium to get some insight of football player’s routines and to see the facilities used by them on match day. Some students were intrigued by mini “jail” for hooligans, some were impressed by huge Jacuzzi! The playground arena was popular too!
One of the highlights of the day was the visit at The Museum of Śląsk Wrocław.
It presents the most significant items, characters and events of the decades-long history of the football section of the WKS. The exhibition features both exhibits and multimedia materials: interviews with former players and coaches, match records, stadium presentations and much more.
Moreover, the exhibition tells the club’s story in the context of the history of Wrocław. Through these testimonies, the students had the chance to learn about the transformation of the city of Wrocław, the capital of Lower Silesia, and about the lives of its inhabitants.
